I keep seeing one role show up more often: Forward Deployed Engineer. And honestly, it feels like Data Engineering moved closer to the business. A traditional Data Engineer might ask: “How should we build this pipeline?” A Forward Deployed Engineer often starts with: “What problem is the customer actually trying to solve?” Then comes the engineering. Understand messy business requirements → work with real data → design the solution → build it → deploy it → sit with the customer and improve it. That combination is what makes the role interesting. It’s not purely consulting. It’s not purely engineering. It’s being technical enough to build the solution and close enough to the business to know whether you’re building the right one. With AI and modern data platforms growing together, I think we’re going to hear a lot more about Forward Deployed Engineers. Would you rather spend your career building the platform or working directly with customers to solve problems on top of it? #ForwardDeployedEngineer #DataEngineering #AI #CloudEngineering #DataPlatforms #Python #DataEngineer
