The term Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is the latest buzzword. Many software vendors have been lately using ‘forward deployed’ as a trendy new way to rebrand their implementation, professional services, solution engineering, or AI consulting. Sigh…. Gartner predicts that by 2028, 70% of enterprises will abandon agentic AI built through vendor FDE, trapped by rising costs and unable to evolve it on their own.
