Forward Deployed Engineering @ OpenAI · 3d ago
Coming from a software engineering background, one of the things that surprised me most about being a Forward Deployed Engineer at OpenAI is just how quickly you can change a customer’s perspective on what’s possible. There’s something really rewarding about working directly with customers, understanding their problems, and being able to turn an idea into something tangible in a relatively short amount of time. It’s also a role that’s surprisingly difficult to explain, partly because no two projects look quite the same. On October 22, my colleagues will be sharing their experiences as FDEs, what the day-to-day actually looks like, and what makes the work interesting.
