NEW GTM Engineer gets into a company
He delivers 0 RESULTS
90 days he's out
That's what's happening right now
1) GTME jobs are hot and many people tried to position themselves with no experience to work on something cool and in demand.
2) Recruiters and founders have 0 ability to understand who's legit or not. There's no training for such people and no, using Claude won't save you
3) People believe that GTM engineering got easier because now everybody can connect Clay and the tools and ask questions.
That's why you can't deliver.
You have no idea what you are doing and nobody helped you.
Making a bad list and having the feeling of being good was never easier.
Actually building something that works was never harder than today.
Result?
90% of hires are failing.
GTMEs need real experience training with A++ people

Hired two 150K+ GTM Engineers and 6 months later..
0 RESULTS. Here's what nobody will tell you:
1) CEO/CMOs have no idea how to hire a GTM Engineer. It's a very new and technical role and they simply don't have the knowledge for this. And it's OK. Don't make HR write the job proposal because someone experienced can spot this from a mile.
2) The role is designed to fail.
The person in charge of GTM Engineering is probably a junior with some RevOps background. He has no idea what use cases bring ROI and
3) Top GTM Engineers don't work full time unless you are Anthropic or OpenAI. All the others simply make more money alone. HR and recruiters are bringing you only B players and they sold them as A players.
What do you do instead?
1) Bring someone really experienced to assess the company and prioritize the right case studies and ROI expectations
2) Bring some quick wins, buy the tech stack and set everything up for the win. You are paying the price of experience. What takes a new guy 1 year, takes me 2 weeks and I am not joking. Speed compounds.
3) The fractional guy creates a roadmap, trains your team and you probably don't even need a GTME anymore. You just saved 150K in budget.
TL;DR: don't hire when you don't have process experience.

If I were to start a growth / GTM engineer position in a new tech or service company this is what I would do ASAP. My top priority list:
1) Intro Offer Design
Turn the offer into something that works with cold traffic. Ex. you sell ads management (SaaS or agency), I would test an angle where I spend X in traffic, I got back 2X:
Ex. Can I generate 5 of my creatives and you only pay if I beat your CTR? (500$ deposit)
You get 5x better replies, 3x more meetings, and revenue from cold traffic.
2) LinkedIn ABM For Executives
3 executives with super optimized LinkedIn profiles. 3 pieces of content per week each.
Score your entire TAM, get people evaluating a competitor, and reach out to all of them, connect automatically with HeyReach and DM manually to open conversations.
1000 leads per account. 20+ conversations per account.
3) Cold Email System (High Volume)
If your TAM is big, it's non-negotiable. I map your TAM and reach out to them every 30 days with a new angle, offer, lead magnet. Then I call all the interested people. It works extremely well when you have 1), social proof and content on different channels.
What else would you add?

It's 90 days since you started as a GTME
You work 12 hours per day
You can't deliver
That's what secretly happened to the vast majority of GTME hires.
How I know: I coached 150+ of them.
This is usually happening for 3 reasons:
1) Wrong expectations
It's your first GTME job, you never did it before and the HR who wrote the job description thought it was possible to press a button and get leads.
2) Nobody trained you
You thought it was easy to connect tools and print meetings. It's not. Connecting tools is easy, knowing what works takes thousands of hours and it shows.
You don't know what to do next and what to work on.
You are spending so many hours per day on things that don't work.
An experienced eye can tell in a second that your next 10 hours of work are useless.
I rebranded my training program to TOP 1% GTME Training this week.
DMs are open if you want to get into GTM Engineering or you need to deliver results.

POV: You are in a new GTM Engineer Position
And this is happening
More and more people in my training are full-time operators who get promoted into a GTME position or do some GTME work.
Everything is amazing, nobody can deliver.
And it's not your fault:
1) Outbound is harder than ever
2) Information on LinkedIn are broken
3) Your employer expectations are out of control
4) You can't present no results at the end of the quarter
Some of the numbers:
$1,3M+ in revenue generated with outbound + a good offer
150+ GTME trained 1-1
1500+ students

Every single day
2-3 GTM Engineers reach out to me
> I launched a campaign, it's not working
> I started a new job, I can't deliver
> I don't know what I am doing
GTM Engineering in the real sense of the trend is TOUGH.
You need killer sales + technical abilities that less than 100 people in the world have
1. Outbound only got tougher
2. You can't get reliable information
3. Companies come with the wrong expectations
150+ GTME trained, 1500+ students
I can help you get in the top 1%: michaelsaruggia(.)com/program

You want to get into GTM Engineering
And you find:
1) Getting meetings is harder than ever
2) There's no formal training to get started
3) Nobody understands what you are talking about
And I get it.
I got a couple of houses paid selling GTM Engineering services and I've been through that.
And in 2026 it is even harder:
> More GTMEs
> Lower trust
> Tougher to get results
Still a crazy opportunity since demand is HUGE but tougher to deliver.
You either get into the top 1% or you are OUT.

$1,3M+ in revenue through outbound, 1500+ students and 150+ GTME trained 1-1 and. This is what makes WORLD CLASS GTM Engineer:
1) Offer Building Skills
This is the holy grail of outbound and proper GTM Engineering. In the real sense of the term. Which is creating an intro offer that works on cold traffic. Which is designing something that when you spend X in traffic (outreach or ads) you get back 2X.
2) Business Acumen
It’s understanding messaging, awareness levels, demand generation vs demand conversions, state of the market, psychology and beliefs. It’s understanding what to do to generate revenue for your company and increase revenue per employee.
3) Technical Skills
Deliverability, list building, skills, APIs, Webhooks, Codex. If you are decent at using Codex and you understand the basics of coding you are fine. It’s lots of practice and how deep you go into things. Ex. There are 1000 levels on how deep you understand deliverability.
Ex. I built a system that automatically swaps domains/addresses when the reply rate of the domain (of the last 1000 sends) is < 1%.
What else would you add?
