GTM engineering is starting to change the way we think about automation. It used to be: Find a tool > connect it > automate a workflow. Now there’s a more useful layer in between. The skill. A GTM engineer can build a skill for: Account research. ICP scoring. Waterfall enrichment. Campaign launches. Reply triage. CRM sync. Lead handoffs. Each skill has a clear job. It knows what information to take in, what to produce, which APIs to call, and which agent should run it. That changes how you build your stack. Instead of creating dozens of disconnected automations, you can build a library of reusable GTM skills. Need to change your enrichment provider? Swap the API. Need a different agent to run the workflow? Swap the runner. The underlying skill stays intact. That’s where I think GTM engineering gets really interesting. The advantage isn’t knowing every new tool that launches. It’s being able to turn repetitive GTM work into reliable, reusable systems.
