i can teach a software engineer 90% of gtm engineering in a week. tam, icp, personas, enrichment and plays are mostly data/systems problems which are usually solved more efficiently with code than with humans clicking around dashboards. no entry-level SDR wants to spend their day doing trad work (manually checking spreadsheet, checking LinkedIn/ZoomInfo and writing a summary for the sales team). gtme made this faster by configuring workflows inside tools like Clay. But, even Clay launching api and cli last week tells me there are a lot of software engineers coming into this market and configuring their e2e agents in the near future. i’ve written code for most of my life, first for sensors/robots, and now for sales and marketing. moving from deep tech into gtm was not the path I expected, but one thing is obvious: a strong software engineer can learn gtm surprisingly fast but most gtm operators cannot suddenly learn software engineering. fight me on this but i believe a tough engineer can enter this space and run circles around many people calling themselves “gtm engineers.” #gtmengineering #revops #gotomarket #aiagents #b2bsaas #salestech
